The Rara Lake circuit trek through Sinja valley is an excellent trekking destination in Karnali province in far west Nepal, linking two different districts of Jumla and Mugu. The major attractions of this trek are Rara Lake, Sinja Valley, Jumla, Rara National Park, snowcapped mountain, landscape. If you are looking for an authentic trekking experience in pristine mountain scenery interlaced with legend, historic place, and folklore, look no further, this region is for you. This trekking through the historic valley of Sinja to Rara Lake and returning to Jumla is a week-long trek. You don’t need trekking experience to attempt this trek. 

The grading nature of this trek is medium, less challenging. Different kinds of vegetation and animals have inhabited this region. Many travelers believe that this far west region will be a future adventure tourism hotspot. Itinerary

  • 1. Kathmandu to Nepalgunj
    You will fly from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj today and spend your night in Nepalgunj. Morning flights are only available to Talcha so we need to wait for the next morning. Exploring the town by yourself. (Overnight Stay in 3Star hotel in Nepalgunj).
  • 2. Nepalgunj to Jumla
    Today in the morning, we fly to Jumla. About thirty minutes of flight from Nepalgunj brings us to Jumla. Once we land at the Jumla Airport and exit out to Khalanga Baazar we will instantly begin the trek. Treading along the trail beside Jugad Khola, which has farmlands and forested regions throughout we arrive to Chhere Chaur. Overnight Stay in Standerd Hotel Jumla.
  • 3. Jumla to Jaljala
    Jumla-Jaljala Pass (On The way Charya Chaur). Overnight Stay on Tea house. Jaljala to Sinja valley Trek. Overnight Stay Gothijeula in Tea house.
  • 4. Sinja to Ghorosingha
    From the Sinja village Continue on the north bank of the Sinja Khola along a trail and ascending the Ghatta Khola. At the top of the ancient moraine wall (3050m, 2½hrs) you are greeted with a meandering stream flowing through a broad grassy valley, and perhaps one of the most inviting campsites you will ever come across, Ghorosingha.   • 5. Ghorosingha to Rara
    We begin our steep ascent after breakfast. Our trail is alongside Chuchhemara Peak (4100M) from where we get to admire the Himalayan panorama, the vast and tranquil Rara Lake, and the lush vegetation of the Rara National Park. On the way to Rara Lake, we pass through Khatyar Khola Camp and a few villages including Murma. From Murma, the ascent gets a little easier. We continue walking towards Chapri village which houses the Rara National Park Head Quarter. Overnight Stay on Rara Eco Resort I.
  • 6. Murma Village Visit & Murma Top Hiking
    Our destination Rara Lake, walk begins on a gradual winding path with gradual uphill into the forest to reach a high hilltop at Murma, on the highest spot of the journey at 3,780 m.   • 7. Back to Lake & Explore in Around Rara Lake
    Early morning, Enjoy with morning view in Murmatop & Back to lake. Rara Lake is the largest freshwater lake in Nepal. After breakfast we investigate the azure waters of the massive lake also referred to as Mahendra Taal (Lake) after late king Mahendra. While boating we get to admire the picturesque setting of the lake and discover quite a few varieties of fish. Chuchemara Peak lies on the southern side of the Rara Lake whereas Ruma Kand and Malika Kand peaks frame its northern area. Overnight at Rara Eco Resort i.
  • 8. Rara - Nepalgunj - Kathmandu
    Good morning! Early morning Breakfast and after all the packing we have our farewell from hotel and walk across the RARA lake to Milichaur. From Milichaur one can chose to go on the horse ride or take our jeep service to reach Talcha airport same as in day 1. And those who prefer to walk till airport are recommended to rise and have breakfast early. From Talcha Airport the flight time is expected around 9 am to 2 pm. Then we fly from Talcha Airport to Nepalgunj and the lunch depends up on the timing so lunch might be before the flight at Talcha or in Nepaljung after landing. Then, we head towards Kathmandu and the trip finally comes to a farewell. Thank You. Travel end!
